Why a multi-network SIM in an alarm panel

If one network drops, the alarm stays online

A single-carrier SIM leaves the panel silent exactly where that carrier has a hole. Ours holds agreements with all three Spanish networks: the panel registers on whichever has the best signal at the site and switches on its own if that network degrades — no hardware change, no reprogramming.

Frequently asked questions

Does this SIM card work with an Ajax alarm?
Yes, as long as the hub accepts third-party SIMs, which is the case for Ajax Hub 2 and Hub 2 Plus. They use the micro-SIM (3FF) format included in our triple-cut card and need mobile data; we give you the APN to set in the app. What we cannot do is enable a SIM on a system with proprietary monitoring that only accepts its provider's SIM.
What is the best SIM card for an alarm?
For an alarm, what matters is not the price per gigabyte but never losing the network. That is where a multi-network SIM beats a single-carrier one: if Movistar has a hole at that property, the panel registers on Vodafone or Orange without anyone intervening. After that, what counts is a format the panel accepts, no lock-in, and pricing that matches a device using a few megabytes a month.
Can I use a normal prepaid mobile SIM in an alarm?
It sometimes works technically, but it causes problems: consumer prepaid SIMs expire through inactivity without top-ups or calls, get deactivated without warning, are tied to one network, and some block M2M data traffic. An alarm that uses almost nothing is exactly the profile consumer carriers eventually switch off. An M2M SIM is designed to stay connected for years while using very little.
What happens when 2G and 3G are switched off?
Panels that only communicate over 2G or 3G will lose communication when their carrier retires that network, and the timeline is already under way in Spain and Europe. How much data does an alarm use per month?
Very little: a panel sending only keep-alives and events typically uses a few megabytes a month. If the installation includes image or video verification, usage rises sharply and should be sized separately — we help you estimate it for your specific case.
I am an installer with many sites — how do I manage it?
Through the portal and the REST API: batch provisioning via CSV or JSON, labels per site or customer, plan changes, pause and reactivation, usage alerts and signed webhooks to feed events into your own system. With a pooled bundle you also stop paying for unused data on every SIM.
