SIM number checker
Paste any number you see on a SIM card, on a device or in your connectivity platform. We tell you what it is (ICCID, IMSI, IMEI, eSIM EID or phone number), whether it is valid and what it reveals: country, issuer, operator. Everything runs in your browser; the number never leaves this page.
Which number are you holding?
A SIM and the device that uses it carry several different numbers, and they get mixed up all the time. This table sums up how to recognise each one by sight.
| Identifier | How to recognise it | What it reveals |
|---|---|---|
| ICCID | 19–20 digits, starts with 89. Printed on the card. | Card issuer's country and issuer. Validity via check digit. |
| IMSI | Up to 15 digits, starts with the mobile country code (310 USA, 234 UK). Only visible via software. | Network country and operator (MCC-MNC). |
| IMEI | 15 digits. On the device box or by dialling *#06#. | Body that allocated the TAC. The model needs the GSMA database. |
| EID | 32 digits, starts with 89. eSIM only. | eUICC chip manufacturer. Validity via check digits. |
| Phone number | 7–15 digits, with + or 00 in front. | Country of the numbering plan. |
What no SIM checker can tell you
Many “check SIM number” searches hope to find out who a card belongs to, its phone number, its balance or whether it is active. None of that is encoded in the number: it is data the operator keeps in its subscriber database, and it exists in no public registry. A site that promises otherwise is guessing or collecting your data.
- The SIM's owner or holder.
- The phone number from an ICCID, or the reverse.
- Whether the line is active, blocked or cancelled.
- Balance, plan or data usage.
- The location of the SIM or the device.
What you can find out
- Which kind of identifier it is and whether it was transcribed correctly (check digit).
- The country of the card issuer (ICCID), the network (IMSI) or the numbering plan (phone number).
- The probable issuer or operator, with a real margin of error: MVNOs issue on their host network's range.
- For an IMEI, the body that allocated the TAC; for an EID, the chip manufacturer.
How to find the phone number of a SIM you hold
- In the phone settings under SIM information, or by dialling your operator's USSD code.
- By asking the operator with proof that the line is yours.
- In IoT, from your connectivity platform's inventory: the ICCID-to-number mapping is there for your own fleet.
