IoT connectivity in Spain
Spain has been our home market since 2013. Multi-network IoT SIM cards with access to all four Spanish carriers — Telefónica, Vodafone, Orange, and MásMóvil — and automatic failover to whichever operator has the strongest signal, without forced steering. Full radio coverage: 2G and 3G where operators still keep them on, 4G LTE in general coverage, 5G in urban areas and main corridors, LTE-M for low-power sensing, and NB-IoT focused on smart metering. Dedicated private APN, public or private static IP, documented REST API, and Spanish-speaking technical support from engineers with experience deploying across all four Spanish carriers since 2013. No lock-in. Permanent roaming with no restrictions for devices exported from Spain.
Accessible operators
- Movistar
- Vodafone
- Orange
- Yoigo
Available technologies
Typical use cases
- Electric and water smart metering (meters, PLC concentrators) over NB-IoT and LTE-M
- Fleet management and GPS tracking (transport, last-mile, logistics)
- EV charging stations (OCPP, eMSP roaming)
- Residential and industrial alarms (ARCs + SMS or IP events)
- Water and gas smart metering (NB-IoT priority)
- Photovoltaic and BESS monitoring
- 4G/5G video surveillance and IP cameras into cloud VMS
- Precision agriculture and industrial sensing (LTE-M / NB-IoT)
- Connected elevators (2G → LTE-M migration for EN 81-28)
- POS and vending machines
Caveats and regulatory considerations
- No permanent-roaming restrictions for devices on Spanish SIMs
- NB-IoT coverage is broad but varies by postal code — validate on site with the SIM Test Kit before mass deployment
- 5G SA rolling out continuously; NSA layer near-nationwide
- No confirmed public 2G shutdown date in the short term, but operator announcements pending for 2025-2027 — plan LTE-M / 4G migration for industrial devices with >5-year life
