IoT connectivity in Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia has three national operators (STC, Mobily, and Zain KSA) with 4G LTE and 5G on all three networks; 2G and 3G are shut down, so any current deployment requires 4G, 5G, or LPWA devices. NB-IoT and LTE-M are deployed with availability varying by region. The CST regulator has banned permanent roaming since 2020: the multi-network roaming SIM serves pilots and assets in transit, while permanent deployments move to an eSIM (eUICC) local profile on the same hardware. Our Saudi Arabia commercial page details networks, rules, and use cases.
Accessible operators
- STC
- Mobily
- Zain SA
Available technologies
Typical use cases
- Logistics and containers on the Riyadh ↔ Dammam ↔ Jeddah corridors
- Oil and gas telemetry in the Eastern Province
- Photovoltaic solar plants (Vision 2030)
- Water and electricity smart metering
- Construction machinery on megaprojects
- Cold chain in extreme climate
Caveats and regulatory considerations
- Permanent roaming banned by CST since 2020 — permanent deployments require an eSIM local profile
- 2G and 3G shut down — 4G/5G/LPWA devices only
- NB-IoT/LTE-M availability varies by operator and region — validate per site during the pilot
- Extreme heat: use the industrial MFF2 form factor (-40 °C to +105 °C) outdoors
