EMnify vs iot.cards

How to choose between EMnify's cloud-native platform and the iot.cards multi-carrier IoT SIM. Not a brand war: EMnify has excellent network engineering and iot.cards a transparent model built for deploying in Spain. We explain when each one fits, without half-truths.

Quick summary

EMnify is a solid choice if your fleet is enterprise-grade, lives on AWS and you want native VPC integration, regional breakout and SGP.32 programmable eSIM: it is the best-reviewed platform in the segment (4.9/5 on G2). Its weak point is commercial opacity: it does not publish rates (Jul 2026); pricing is quote-only. iot.cards is the reasonable choice if you want published rates (from €0.005/MB), the three Spanish networks named (Movistar, Vodafone, Orange), Spanish-language engineering support and a relationship that doesn't start with "talk to sales".

Side-by-side feature comparison

Two serious platforms with opposite commercial philosophies: one sells by quote, the other publishes its rates.

EMnifyiot.cards
Commercial model
Does not publish rates (Jul 2026): no €/MB, no per-SIM fee, not even a currency. Plan structures are public (fixed allowance, pooled, pay-per-use, in 1–50 MB, 50 MB–1 GB and >1 GB bands). Pricing by quote.
Published rates: pay-as-you-go from €0.005/MB at low usage and €1.50/GB at high usage, plus a published monthly fee. No lock-in.
Coverage in Spain

Movistar, Vodafone and Orange named, with automatic switching across all three networks.
Global coverage
540+ networks in 180+ countries ("SuperNetwork", 2–3 networks per country), with its own cloud-native core on AWS and a satellite/NTN add-on.

Cloud integration / private APN
Excellent: Cloud Connect with IPsec and native AWS Transit Gateway attachment (also Azure/GCP), a free OpenVPN option and regional breakouts.
Dedicated private APN with your CIDR range + IPSec/WireGuard tunnel into your VPC or your on-premise network, with private static IPv4 per SIM.
eSIM / eUICC
SGP.32 programmable eSIM commercially live since ~March 2026, consumer eSIM and all form factors including MFF2.
eUICC eSIM SGP.02 and SGP.32 with remote profile management.

When to choose which

Choose EMnify if…

  • Your fleet is enterprise-grade and lives on AWS: the native Transit Gateway attachment and regional breakout are hard to match.
  • You need SGP.32 programmable eSIM already mature in production and all form factors, including MFF2.
  • You deploy across many countries and the satellite/NTN add-on matters to you.
  • You value the best-reviewed platform in the segment (4.9/5 on G2) with its own cloud-native core.
  • Your team works comfortably in English and with tiered support.
  • Your procurement process is fine negotiating pricing by quote.

Choose iot.cards if…

  • You want public, comparable rates before talking to anyone (from €0.005/MB at low usage).
  • You need to know which Spanish networks your SIM uses: Movistar, Vodafone and Orange, named.
  • You want engineering support in Spanish, by phone and email, from Seville.
  • Your fleet is small or mid-sized and you don't want the relationship to start with "talk to sales".
  • You need a private APN with your CIDR and static IP in the standard offer.
  • You prefer to pilot calmly: €15 test kit with 12 months of validity.
  • You want a monthly invoice for actual consumption, with no lock-in.

Frequently asked questions

Why doesn't EMnify publish pricing and what does that mean for procurement?
As of July 2026, EMnify publishes no rates: no €/MB, no per-SIM fee, not even the currency on its pricing pages. It publishes the plan structures (fixed allowance, pooled, pay-per-use, usage bands), but the final number is quote-only. For a procurement team that means a fair €/MB comparison is impossible on paper: get the EMnify quote and compare it against our published €0.005/MB. If their offer wins for your profile, we'll tell you exactly that.
Is EMnify's platform technically more advanced?
On cloud integration, yes, and we won't argue it: the native AWS Transit Gateway attachment, regional breakouts and the multicloud Data Streamer are first-rate engineering, and their SGP.32 eSIM reached commercial production in 2026. If your architecture is enterprise-grade and AWS-centric, that's a real advantage. For most deployments in Spain what you need is a private APN with your CIDR, static IP, reliable webhooks and someone who picks up the phone: that is exactly what the iot.cards standard offer includes.
Does EMnify cover Spain well?
Yes in roaming terms: its SuperNetwork claims 540+ networks in 180+ countries with 2–3 networks per country. What it does not publish is which specific Spanish networks it uses; it is unconfirmed which of Movistar, Vodafone or Orange are behind it. If your project requires knowing (and proving to your client) which networks the SIM rides on, iot.cards names them: Movistar, Vodafone and Orange, with automatic switching across all three.
Is EMnify's Cloud Connect equivalent to the iot.cards private APN?
Similar goal, different approach. Cloud Connect offers IPsec and native AWS Transit Gateway attachment (also Azure and GCP), with a free OpenVPN option: ideal if your backend already lives in those clouds. The iot.cards private APN gives you a dedicated APN with your own CIDR range and an IPSec or WireGuard tunnel into your VPC or your on-premise network, plus private static IPv4 per SIM. If your destination is pure AWS, Cloud Connect is excellent; if you mix on-premise, SCADA or need addressing control, the dedicated APN fits better.
How do the trials compare?
EMnify's trial is free and good, let's be clear: 3 SIMs shipped anywhere in the world plus prepaid test credit valid 60 days, with VPN, Data Streamer and API included. Our SIM Test Kit costs €15 and includes 5 SIMs with 1 GB and 12 months of validity: you pay something, but you get a year to pilot without the pressure of a 60-day clock. Honest recommendation: if in doubt, run both trials and measure in the field.
What support does each offer and in which language?
EMnify offers three tiers: Standard (business hours), Business (24/7 with 3 to 9 hour response) and Enterprise (24/7 with 1 hour response). Support is in English; it does not advertise Spanish-language support. iot.cards responds with engineers in Seville, in Spanish and English, by phone and email, with a 24/7 SLA on the enterprise tier and technical onboarding from day one.
How should I approach a pilot or a migration between EMnify and iot.cards?
Switching providers means a physical SIM swap (or an eUICC profile change if your hardware supports it), so size things before mass deployment. Our advice: get the EMnify quote, run their 3 free SIMs and our €15 kit in parallel on 5-10% of the fleet, and compare real coverage at your locations, latency to your backend and total cost with actual numbers on the table. If with the EMnify quote in front of us the result favors them, we'll tell you honestly.

Want us to size your case?

Tell us how many devices, what they consume and what your requirements are (cloud, APN, IP, regulated vertical). We'll compare the quote EMnify gives you against our published rates and honestly tell you which one fits — even if the answer is "go with EMnify".
